Help! My OnStar won't work....

1732 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  kevin3577
Here is what I have:
2004 S4
Euro RNS-E Converted to US
Parrot CK3000
OnStar

Instruments Channel 62 set to 31

When I installed my Parrot I purchased an extra red plug and wired the Parrot wires to the Mute, Right, and Left Speaker plugs.

When I have my stock radio in and the stock red plug OnStar works, but not when I install the RNS-E, Parrot (new red plug) OnStar doesn't work properly.

When I hit any OnStar button it mutes the stereo, but I can't hear anything. It can hear me b/c I try the "Units", "Verify" and the timing is exactly the same as when I can hear.

Can the new red plug be causing the issue or is it something else?

TIA

Did you have the Parrot and OnStar connected to your Symphony or only OnStar? They are using the same phone pins on the head unit and unless to connect both to the phone mute/NF+/NF- pins at the same time, either of both won't work. I think I read once on AW that someone used the Navi mute/NF+/NF- on the Symphony for his phone kit while OnStar was connected to his phone pins. But the RNS-E has no Navi pins anymore, so that's ot an option. You may be able use some relay which uses the mute wire to connect either of both to the phone pins. Just a thought.

Pretty good idea there, worth a try I think.
I will give it a try.

Thanks
