only get mag heading on the instrument display when I am not in NAV mode. When radio and CD is selected, only mag heading <S>, <NE>, <N>.....etc in center of the display with the temp. at the top.

I must have coded something wrong but I have checked and re-checked the VAG codes from this site.

UPDATE -

OK, I got rid of the mag heading. Under the NAV menu I deselected the compass block.

The problem I still have is - no radio information at all on the instrument display. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have coded the instruments correctly because the mag heading appears.

Have you enabled route guidance (enter a destination and start route guidance)? Only mag heading will appear unless you have a active route.
