Having to frequently add oil

Hello All: I have a 2013 A6 2.0 with ~135K miles on it. Every ~800-1,000 miles I am having to add a quart of oil. It isn't smoking and there are no leads on my garage floor. A friend told me that this is a common issue with higher mileage 2.0 engines, but I can't locate any information on why. Any knowledge to be shared would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm curious about the quality of your observations - "no smoking" - have you ridden in another car, following your own A6, and personally observed that it doesn't ever smoke while running, in any normal driving condition? This would be more definitive than just looking at it idling in your driveway. "no leaks" - it's possible for an engine to leak only when it is running - is there no sign of oily mess on the underside of your car?? What "engine build code" does your car have? (a 4-letter code on the white paper label posted under trunk mat - my car is CPMB) Significant improvements were engineered into 2.0T engines somewhere in the 2012-2013 time frame, I'm not sure exactly when. You'll find plenty of chatter about high oil consumption in cars before that point. My car still consumes more/less zero oil between 5,000 mile changes, now at 70,000 miles.
