have a problem getting onstar/telematics working

I installed a US version RNS-E unit puchased on here from haaggie, who was a true pleasure to deal with i might add! anyway, i got everything hooked up and coded but my onstar still won't work when i hit the onstar button the radio mutes and the little mute symbol appears on the bottom of the screen but there is no sound from onstar... i think the microphone is working as if i say "cancel" the onstar shuts off and goes back to the radio, also onstar does display on the gauge cluster screen.

i ran an output test on the nav unit and when it got to the loud speaker test which is what i assume the telematics/onstar uses it says inactive...

does anyone have any ideas what problem i'm having.. as far as coding goes i coded the rns-e unit to Telematics US i tried every other possible code but it would only accept telematics US or no telephone

thanks for any responces in advance!

Did ou have the original trunk mounted Navigation before you installed the RNS-E?
actually yes, i did have the factory nav unit, when i installed the RNS-E though i unplugged the stock unit in the trunk... any chance this could be causing it?
OnStar is connected like an external phone interface to the telefone mute/NF+/NF- pins on the head unit. Except wwhen you have the small BNS Navi. In this case OnStar is connected to the BNS unit in your trunk. Check the BNS unit, there should be a label on it like the one on the RNS or radio. It will show you which three wires you will need to extend to the RNS-E to get OnStar back working. It might be easiest if you bridge the phone and navi wires on the BNS head unit and connect the navi wires from behind the head unit to the phone pins on the RNS-E/adapter.

The you need to bridge pin 13 with 16 and bridge pin 15 wit h19 at the BNS unit.
