ok, i just got my nav unit today and plugged it in to try it out, I have NOT vagged it yet but I am having a few problems that might not be related to that and some that are, if you could please give me some suggestions:

ok, my car is an 04 S4 with bose, Onstar and factory nav (the non-screen type, controller in console)

i plugged in the rns-e in and put the satellite receiver behind the dash

the dash does not display radio or nav info at all --- should be fixed by vag?

The nav will only get up to about 4 satellites even in a wide open area and will not update my position, it did get my position but does not update when i drive the car

Onstar does not work--- thinking this is a vag issue

ok, now i have an install question, it came with the adapter for the antenna to convert the figure eight shaped plug on the headunit to the fm antenna plug... now the other hole in that plug... i put what i think is the gala plug into it (took the wire out of the square factory plug) should i have done this or no? thanks in advance for any help, suggestions

one more thing, where is the cheapest place to buy the sirius tuner? claireparts?

Coding of the instrument cluster should not be necessary since you already had the BNS navi (you should disconnect the BNS navi to avoid issues since they are responding on the same address). But it sounds like your CAN wires are messed up. Does the RNS-E turn off with ignition and does it illuminate if you turn on the lights? OnStar will only work if you got the adapter with phone prep (10 pin plug with 3 wires).

For the antenna check the quick links, there are several references and pictures on how the antenna adapter should look like.

hey, thanks for the reply, I checked the can wires and they are correct.. the unit will NOT turn off with the car but the lights do turn on with the rest of the dash lights and turn off with the car as well.... I disconnected the stock nav system and still no luck there... someone told me i might need to use a newere Vag-Com... the one I have I got from ross-tech about 4-5 years ago and is the ISO-COM version... i'm going to try to find someone in the area who has a newer one to give it a try.. oh, i'm in the philadelphia area if anyone sees this and has one they wouldn't mind letting me try

The ISO-COM should be fine if you are using VAG-COM 409.1 (which should also work with the RNS-E). Once you got it working check if your unit is coded for an A4. If it's coded for an A4 Cabrio or A3 it may not work as expected.
