Hi all,

I just installed an RNS-E for my sister in her A4 and I placed the GPS antenna behind her instrument cluster. She wants to get her windows tinted this weekend.

Will the tint interfere with the GPS antenna reception? Is there a certain type of tint she should use?

A search here only turned up 1 hit for me. If anyone knows of any links with this discussion, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have the GPS located under the dash in my '05 S4. I installed the RNS-E after having tint done and I get plently of satellites, 3 at least and I've seen up to 8-9. FYI, I have 15% up front and a strip on top of the windshield. I don't think you'll have a problem

If the tint is metallic then it will attenuate the signal from the satellites, and could cause a problem.

If the tint is just coloured plastic then it should be OK.

I think ceramic tint will be ok as well.
