gala or abs???please help!!!

hello!!!i would like to ask something?i have an s3 modell 2003 with can bus!!!i recently installed a navi plus!!!i connected the speed signal cable in the 31 pin behind the instrument cluster!i programmed my navi with vag com to use the gala signal.is this right?i heard that other s3 use the abs signal!!! :idea:

you are right - you use the gala signal if its present and code the navi to say you are using gala.
is it sure that my car has a gala signal?i mean is it used in s3?

My S3 used gala on the Symphony II radio.
OK!!!i read what you wrote in the forum about gala signal!!!can i ask you something more?can you tell me why when i have the navigation mode in my fis display above the navi information i see the track number and temperature when in other factory fitted navis in the s3 the can see the cd number and the track number?have i made any mistake? :eek:

I don't know of any way to change what the DIS shows by coding or adaptation. Not 100% sure but I think it might be related to either the type of Navi system or the SW version in the DIS (i.e. vehicle build date).

My first S4 (May 2003) had a factory RNS-D and showed CD number & track on the top line plus something else that I can't remember on the second line of the DIS, my current S4 (October 2004) has the RNS-E and shows track info (from the MP3 card) on the top line and temperature on the second line of the DIS - both when navigation is active (the display is different when navigation is not active). Both were/are the colour DIS.

I guess the only way to be sure is to attach a CAN bus analyser (does such a beast exist?) and see what the RNS is sending to the DIS.
