EU to US RNS-E

I just joined and I must say this is the most informative site I have been to. There is so much to learn.
I was reading about modifying the US DVD to replicated the Euro DVD to allow the EU unit to update the software and become a US unit. I am shopping on ebay for a EU or US unit for my 03 A4. It looks like the EU units are cheaper, so I think I will go that way, if I am able to get my hands on a US modified DVD to update the software of the EU unit. My question is, how can I get a modified US DVD to do this EU to US software. Just wondering if anyone here can help me out with this, because I am not very computer savy. Anyway just thought I would ask, and its great to be here.

I have an EU unit on the was too and need help with this peice of the install. So far I have had no luck finding someone to help with this piece.

I am a bit supprised that the modified files are not available for download anywhere. I am not totally comfortable making my own DVD for this purpose. I have a US DVD. Just not sure exactly how to modify it.(So I am jumping on this thread hoping to find an answer too :D )

Well, besides copyright concerns the issue is that not all updates are the same. It depends on what unit you have, what has been done to the unit so far and what your are intending to use it for. A software update can render the unit unusable and I would not recommend to simply download an update CD from somewhere without being certain that it does what it should.
I guess that is the real concern. I have read the links about modifying the DVD but it does not seem clear enough for me to want to do it myself.

Honestly I should have dug a bit deeper on that topic before I ordered my Euro unit.

I understand the copy right concern. The ideal situation would be to find someone local that has done this conversion that could help.

Correct me if I am wrong here. My understanding is that once it is converted then I should be able to use my US DVD that I already have?

So all I really need to do is barrow a "conversion disc" from someone to make it a US unit, right? Provided we know all the spec information ahead of time to make sure we have the right stuff.
