I know it will play a CD with MP3 tracks on it...but can you put MP3s on a DVD disk and will it play them?

It would be great to have a single disk with 4.7GB of MP3s on it.

No, the RNS-E will not play MP3 from DVD. I haven't actually tried it myself but it has been mentioned several times on other boards. Something like different file systems or so. Since DVDs are pretty cheap these days, maybe it's worth to confirm it though...

AFAIK it depends on the laser if the drive can read + or - media. Since it reads a singler layer map DVD on + media just fine, I suppose it's a question of the file system.

The Nav+ (according to the manual) will read CDs burnt with the ISO9660, Rockridge or Joliet file systems.

You can burn a DVD with the same file systems.

It should work... But I couldn't get it to read a Joliet-formatted DVD-R.

Same here... MP3 CD option is greyed out.

To re-hash this thread and re-confirm: The RNS-E drive will play CD and MP3 CD but will not read an MP3 DVD or any DVD data for that mattter, except for the RNS-E system DVD?
