The reason I ask is that my car hasn't been started in several hours. Since I just installed the unit 3 days ago, I haven't fully finished with the face plate modifications. So anyways I went out just to get the model number and I heard a fan running on the RNS-E? Like I said I haven't started the car in hours, so should it be running like this?

The RNS-E goes into an "almost-on" mode when unlock the car - so that it starts up quicker.

It also goes into this mode for about 30 minutes after you lock the car.

So the fan you hear is normal behaviour.
