Do you really have to use the iPod to change playlists?

I have seen some conflicting posts/answers to this question, probably because I haven't done a good job at asking the question. I'll try it this way...

Can you change iPod playlists through the RNS-E with the Icelink setup, or do you have to actually use the iPod to change playlists?

Ok, I briefly connected the IceLink again, didn't have much time today though. You have CD1-5 which seems to be the playlists, CD6 gets you into the iPod setup, CD7 is the internal DVD drive. Previous and Next song/track worked fine but going to a certain song in a certain playlist was kind of tricky with the RNS-E CD controls. There might be new firmware for both the Icelink (mine is 2.0.5) and the iPod (no idea what firmware, gf wanted the mini back before I could get all the details).
Overall, I now remember why I didn't install the iceLink. SD cards are so much easier to handle and having the songs title/artist displayed is so much better than Track 01, 02, and so on.
THANK YOU for taking the time to look at this and write back!

Based on your experience, I'm thinking that the SD cards are a better route for me too. I was hoping to be able to download songs from the iTunes store, but it doesn't seem like it'd be worth the trouble.

Thanks again!

you can download songs from the itune store, and then find a file unlocker program, that will convert the itunes songs to mp3 that you can use on SD cards or any other MP3 players
Or just burn the songs to a CD and re-import.
