Hi,
This is on an Audi A4 B8 2011.
Nothing has been recently changed, and one day the DIS just went blank. It is a color display.
I've tried shining a flashlight on it to see if it's a faulty backlight, but I still can't see anything on the screen.
I don't know whether it's a fault with the instrument cluster or the DIS itself.
I'm probably going to get a salvage cluster and take the DIS out. I'd really like to be able to power this up on the bench just to see if anything is displayed.
Does anyone have the pinout of the 14-pin connector?
The display module is enclosed in a silver metal box. It has the part number EY8038U9K, and it's from an 8K0 920 981D instrument cluster.
Thanks.

Update: I took the instrument cluster out of the car; a very straightforward task following youtube guides. Then I disassembled the cluster and removed the DIS. This is the version enclosed in a silver metal casing. I took this apart and deduced most of the pin functions; certainly enough to power up on the bench. Still nothing on the display though, and that might be expected as there is no communication with the rest of the vehicle.
I then replaced the DIS and plugged the assembly back into the car but left the plastic back removed so I could measure voltages. They were all present (+12V, +5V and +3.3V). And surprise - the DIS was on and working fine.
So I didn't do anything considered to be a repair, merely re-seated the DIS.
