Doh! I was hoping my "F" version covered me for such a situation.... Oh well. 
Different versions of Euro RNS-E HIGH
There is a new discussion on www.a4-freunde.de where they talk about three different versions of an RNS-E HIGH (Euro A4 unit in this case):
1. RNS-E Basic with 0330/0360 software update shows up as HIGH
2. RNS-E HIGH without SDS (Sprach Dialog System = Speech Dialog System)
3. RNS-E HIGH with SDS
The RNS-E BASIC updated to 0330/0360 does not support the same features as the RNS-E HIGH (with or without SDS). This is caused by different hardware revisions supporting different features.
I guess this means that the part number and hardware revision is what matters if you really want all the features supported by the newest RNS-E.
This is how I see it right now (everybody feel free to correct me here):
8E0 035 192C with sw 0330/0360 shows HIGH but does not support all phone features
8E0 035 192D with sw 0360 (default) shows HIGH but may not support all phone features
8E0 035 192H with sw 0360 (default) shows HIGH and is HIGH (supporting all phone features)
This is for the Euro unit/software only but similar may apply to the US units the E is the BASIC unit, F is the HIGH unit without SDS and X (unknown at this time, maybe G?) is the real HIGH US unit with SDS.

Maybe there is no real US HIGH and your F is as much as you can get. I have no idea really, just guessing...
The Diffence is not just the Hardware number as H:50 or H:70.
There 3 diffrent systems on market wich ar HIGH.

Stoodo was talking about his "F" unit but he got the A4 8E0 035 192 F which is the model year 2006 US unit which is supposed to support the "B" phone interface. For the A4 there are the following units know so far:
8E0 035 192 C - Basic A4 Euro
8E0 035 192 D - High A4 Euro, no SDS (Sprach Dialog System/Voice control system)
8E0 035 192 E - A4 US unit
8E0 035 192 F - A4 US unit with SDS
8E0 035 192 H - High A4 Euro , with SDS
In the ETKA (part catalogue) are those Numbers:
Audi A3:
8P0 035 192 - standard Euro system (first model)
8P0 035 192 X - standard Euro system exchanged by dealer
8P0 035 192 A - standard Euro system (second model) without Voice control

The Units may have a diffent Hardware as H:50, H:55,H:56 or H:70. All Untist with H:70 are HIGH. There migth be a some funtional driffences between H:50 and H:70. May be we are able to figuere it out.

Hmm so I see for the A6 that Audi is still at the first standard model, but no mention of voice control.
Any idea if voice control will work with with a standard model since it's the only one listed??

bummer...looks like the 4B0 units for the C5 A6 community aren't blessed with all those fancy upgrade models. Yes...any Audi part with an "X" at the end denotes a refurbished items. We see this a lot with certain expensive electronics (instrument cluster, climate control units, stereo head units..etc..etc.).
You won't see any further updates to the A6 units since the A6 C5 and Allroad are no longer manufactured. The only option may be the Lamboghini unit which "may" be based on the A6 unit (spearate speed wire) and will get further updates because the car is still manufactured.
Hmm any guesses how the bluetooth will work with the A6 since there is only the standard model? :shock:
