I got the 1217 and it does Pal and NTSC
If you switch off the CAN then the illumination will go off on your nav and it will turn off in about 30 minutes. The Dietz unit passes all the CAN signals all the time EXCEPT the speed signal - which is what the switch controls.jgersic said:I read a couple of threads about the Dietz adapter to let you run video while the car is in motion - but have one point to clarify. On one thread about an install of the Dietz adapters, a switch is put in for it. What I was wondering was - is a switch required for the Dietz adapter for the video-in-motion? Do you have to switch on/off the dietz for the in-motion video, or does it get powered up automatically once you set the input to tv on the nav? If you have to flip a switch for the dietz for the in motion video, what does the unit really do? Couldn't I make switch (on/off of the can speed signal) and do the same thing?
Just trying to figure out the switch deal...

Thanks,

That is why ....AudiA4B6US said:The message "TV not installed" points more to a CAN issue. TV in motion would display a nasty warning while blanking the screen.
