Before I buy a euro RNS-E for my US B5 A4 are there any issues i should know about? I know the US DVD will not work w/o being modified... but are there any other problems or loss of functionality? will the 3-D view and traffic report work? anything you can think of, please let me know before I spend the money, thanks!

Define "loss of functionality". Taking the US unit in the US or the Euro unit in Europe as default?

3D view works for the map but not for highway exits, there is no TMC in the US (at least for now), software must be (and remain) 0140 or older, issues with very small streets and certain addresses (but this has been mentioned several times before).

And for the B5: must have CAN (MY 2001 and newer), must use A6 unit, cannot synch date/time with instrument cluster. But all of these issues apply to both the US and EU units.

All new units have the new software now. All used units may have been used with the 2005_1 DVD and therefore may be upgraded to the new software. You will need to see a phot of the info/version screen of the device you are planning to buy to determine if the software version is usable.

how "old" does the unit have to be in order to stay with-in the software versions?
FYI, I have one for sale with the right version at the moment... ;-)

Pictures available on request...

Best regards.
