Connectors part numbers...

Does anyone knows the part numbers of the "combined" connector which is present behind the RNS-E ???

I try to explain a little bit better:

I need to connect a Dietz 1280 and I wish to place a switch on it.
I don't want to cut/iron/touch any OEM cable.

I would need to create a male-female short cable to fit between the RNS-E and the original cables, so that I can fit Dietz1280 on such piece of cabling...

If any of you knows for sure the spare parts number for both connectors (M & F) and its relative pins (again M & F), this would be of great help.

Best regards.

The RNS-E Quadlock female you can get form your Audi dealer, togetehr with the pins and inserts. The only place I have seen the male Quadlock is here, they sell the pins too but you might be better off getting a couple repair wires because crimping those MQS pins is a pain.

I wished they were somewhat more clever, as after asking they proposed me to buy THEIR TV-FREE interface (I already have a Dietz 1280 !!!).

Actually I'm looking to create something like this:

So that I do not touch OEM cabling... I can't remember where I got this image, but I think it was how Dietz delivered their first 1280 interfaces...

BTW: did anyone installed a rear view camera on any Audi yet ??? ;-)

i'd love to find out how to make such adapter as well

same here, i'd like to plug a 1280, and would like to be able not to touch any of the factory wires
Looking into making these special harnesses after I receive the Dietz adapters and have some time to make them up. Looking at 1280 and 1417 harnesses.
that would definitly be the best thing

a plug and play (or almost) without touching the factory harness)
I'm currently investigating with guy at caraudio-systems.de on exactly which material is needed to create such harness...

I've got their PDF catalog which is not very understandable as it's in German, but there are pictures...

I can send on request, or maybe I can place it somewhere for others to use it.

Actually I still have a small doubt on which is the correct connector to create the counterparts of connector B and C (I mean the same which are on RNS-E part) as in the catalog the QUADLOC they offer is missing the place where to place the male pins... (I hope I explained myself the right way...).

If someone have any hint, it's more than welcome...

BTW: since they sell minimum quantities, I'm planning getting enough material to create at least 5 harnesses (to use most of the material I'm going to receive), but I'll obviously only need one or two maximum. If anyone is interested to have the left material at a cheaper price or to have a complete harness already made, just let me know.

The problem with this solution in some cars is the size of having 2 quadlocks behind the HU, I know the A6's are very tight for space, so are the A3's.

You lucky people with A4's should have no problem though.

I had one of these TV in motion harnesses from caraudio systems which was no good as it had no on/off facility so I used it to wire in my Dietz 1280, it would be an ideal solution for a plug and play telephone harness.

Micky,
I'm working on installing a rear view camera in my car. Still doing research and trying to find a small enough camera.
i did not cut any factory wires when i installed my Dietz 1417 and 1280..

i just cut the CAN H/L wires on the adapter harness and used male and female shielded bullet connectors.. i installed the opposite sex on the radio side of the CAN high and CAN low wires so they can not be connected incorrectly..

for the power and ground, i just spliced in to the RNS-E adapter(not the best option).. but you cut and re-terminate or find and alternative source..

i found it very helpful to be able to disconnect the Dietz devices to trouble shoot a problem i was having..

fritzner: if i had an adapter that would be great

but since my car is a B7 A4, i have the RNS-E factory installed, so no adapter harness for me
