I will send you an email and we can discuss it further.

Thanks for posting an update to answer all of the unanswered questions that folks have been asking. One interesting thing about design is that more and more RNS-E's are being sold and retrofitted into these older cars and the main noticeable issue is the ole non synchronizing clock. A quick google search from the new RNS-E owner points to a member called "bjarne" and "CANGate" which might make someone think sweet an easy fix. Then they start reading the threads and see they aren't made anymore etc and you need to find one! UH OHHH. Most of the original buyers just sell their car with the unit in them and the new owner really knows nothing of it and that unit is now no longer available as it retires with that car and probably gets scrapped in a junkyard as an unknown part. I have offered $100 more than the original sale price of $140 to a member to take it out prior to selling his car since it is so tough to find one anymore. Supply and demand right! Either way, I commend you on creating the design and tweaking it to better it over the years. You definitely took a challenge given to us and beat it...badly! I figured after not seeing you post anymore that you were long gone, so honestly this long babbling post is to thank you for your contribution. I hope someone can work a deal with you and continue the design process with your blessing. I am honestly starting to accept the fact that my clocks will never match and have trained myself not to look at the RNS-E clock which is great except for when a passenger gets in and asks me whats wrong with my clock. I almost want to put a piece of electrical tape over that part of the screen!!

Thanks again - Rich

unfortunately my talks with wizard1000 did not quite work out at this time. But in the process i found all the stuff and got it dusted off, so i am thinking i might have some time in the second half of december to make another batch. I have to look at the economics but i might have to raise the price $10.00-$20.00 depending on the current price for components. It would be good to gauge the level of interest so i can plan accordingly, so if anybody is interested, please shoot me an email and i will let you know my final decision.

YGM!

I am going to hold off for now on purchasing a new MFSW relay to get my steering wheels buttons to work. Fingers are crossed that this works out :)

emailed in for one or two depending on how my projects pan out.

are there details on this device, simply a clock fix or does it replace the need for a new cangate module in terms of mfsw+rnse?
I am under the impression that this will allow you to keep your non-CAN MFSW steering wheel module, but I cannot confirm anything. Here is one of the original what CANGate can do threads.

Bjarne, that is GREAT to hear about the 608 module as that is what I was under the impression of, so now that you confirmed I can stop searching fro a deal on the CAN+Tip MFSW module which is super $$. Also, do have a pic of what the CANGate module looks like and how it is installed? I have a mental pic of what I think it should/could be but could never find a pic online?

I posted a picture many years ago but I guess it got lost when the forum changed. I have attached the picture here next to my fob so you can get an idea of the size.

I have also attached the installation instructions, it should basically be wired into the RNS-E wiring adapter. All the connections (except for BT switch and MFSW connection) are available in the adapter.

I will update the instructions before I ship again.

Directions I found and studied up on in my searching, but you are correct, the image was wiped. I was pretty close except it is a lot cleaner and nicer than I thought (complement of course) I know it is tight back behind the RNS-E already, so I will have to wedge this somewhere back there. Thanks again and I will leave you alone for now!

Just a quick note. I got the ball rolling with the assembly house, and I will be able to keep the price at $160.00. Their standard delivery is 6-8 weeks, but they will try to expedite it and let me know in a week how much they can improve delivery time.

Bjarne
Thanks for the update. I take it paypal is your preferred method of payment also. Just let me know when and where you want it sent.

might be a silly question but can I get a little update on the full purpose of the can gate. It will allow my mfsw to work with my rnse? and clock fix?
Yes and Yes although the MFSW isnt as widely tested. It is one of the reasons that I am getting it though but according to bjarne, there are only 2 other folks using it for this function and it is working just fine.

well when/if your product fully supports the MFSW let me know!
Johann, I will let you know how it goes with mine as the MFSW option is one of the main reasons I am getting it along with the clock sync. I am however prepared to spend the $ to get a CAN MFSW module if I need to, but if this works then I have saved a couple hundred bucks :)

Huge thank you to bjarne!!

Wanted to give a big Thank You to bjarne for helping me to get the MFSW buttons working on my allroad with TIP buttons on the steering wheel as oddly, the signals that the TIP wheel sends to the RNS-E is different than those that the non TIP steering wheel sends. Through logging by me and very few firmware edits by bjarne, my MFSW now works great to control the RNS-E and I saved the money on having to buy a CAN capable MFSW module from Audi for $200+.

During the install I took a couple pics of the wire to tap into for the MFSW feed to the CANGagte module, so here they are. I put some notes on each pic describing what I did also. I then tucked my CANGate box into the center console into a small cubby hole in the drivers footwell as the space behind the RNS-E is limited and also this allows for easy access to hook up the USB cable for future updates if needed.

Here is where I put my CANGate module:
