Is there a way to "calibrate" the nav? On all of my prior nav systems in cars i was able to do this. It seems like my map display is about 50 feet off from the actual veh position.

Just try and get the tire/wheel size as close as you can. I posted a bunch of sizes from the C5 A6 model line in this forum. From what I've noticed, the nav will correct itself and slightly alter that tire/wheel size after a few weeks of driving (almost like it's going through a learning exercise).

Also, you might need to calibrate your GPS antenna. Usually, driving around in 5-7 circles in a parking lot will help.

Good luck!
