Guys I came across this site and thought I would share.

They sell an adapter to go from the factory phone harness to a Parrot CK3000 kit and you don't have to wire a thing. I have one coming in more of a raw form since I am altering it to work with my CK3100.

I talk to the creator for a while on the phone today and he's a really nice guy. He just bought an S4 so he said he is going to be working on more toys for us.. Like a CAN BUS interface to display additional information. He already has it working and is testing it now. He is even looking for people in the San Diego area to Beta. He's just asked that no one kill him with emails about the unit while he is working on it.

Anyways here is the site:

If you’re getting something please mention that David sent you. Not that I get anything but it would be nice to let him know that I am helping him out as he did for me.

Nice, keep us posted how it goes. I saw on the web page that he lists only the years up to 2001, did you hear anything about the A4/S4 B6 and or RNS-E? Or is this what the CAN-BUS kit is for?

The year restriction may be on the car not having the phone pre-wire. I think you guys with newer cars than I would be better to answer that. The CAN BUS interface is currently running on a 2005.

I can tell you that since he has an Audi now and wants to install the RSNE in his car that good things will come in time. I guess this isn't his actually job but is consuming allot of his time. I can't imagine him making something for his car but not marketing it though.

If your car is prewired for phone then I would imagine it would only take a quick refrence to see if the pinouts are the same. I know Audi sells phone install kits for cars later than 2001 so it may just be a lack of RD.

We could always come up with the answer for him...

I might be in a bad position because I have this fancy OnStar Telematics kit. It has some pre-wiring but only for the OEM Audi Motorola V60. I would love to be able to connect my Treo 650 somehow but I don't want to do this without external antenna adapter. It would be really nice if he would offer a generic BT kit which integrates into the CAN-BUS and talks to the RNS-E. I could then get some cheap Treo handsfree set just to get the holder with the antenna plug and mount everything in the center armrest.

This is actually a very interesting subject because even the OEM BT handfree sets in Germany don't allow much more than answering a call. They don't allow dialing from the RNS-E name directory, they don't show the caller ID in the RNS-E or DIS, nothing basically. If he can come up with something which really integrates and also support the Parrot kits, that sounds like a huge market oportunaty.

Maybe you can get him to join us here. Besides the Yahoo group, this seems to be the only English forum about the Audi RNS-E and all the questions around it.

Anyway, thanks for finding this guy...

You poor thing, suffering so with all those options on your car ;)

I'm guessing with the V60 wiring there is no trunk wiring for his adapter to go to. I wonder if cars with out telematics are pre-wired for it though. If so then that adapter could be used to tap the phone kit... Hmmm....

I did exactly what you mentioned for the external antenna. I got the hands free cradle for my Motorola and have routed a wire through the arm rest (not easy) and have everything mounted to the Audi arm rest mount.

Hence me getting the Audi bumper antenna. The nice thing with the parrot 3100 is the call display, but your right, that info on the CAN would be huge. I wonder if he feels like reverse engineering the Parrot kit :)

I'll let him know where to find us.

I want to do something similar, but when I tried to connect to the antenna wire in the trunk from a standard Motorola car kit (sometime ago), I did not get any reception on the phone. I was assuming, that since I have an antenna cable, that there actually is an antenna somewhere. So is there an antenna pre-amp somewhere, which have to be powered?

This is a 2001 US A6, if it matters, with phone pre-wiring to the trunk.

Yes there is on the S8, and probably on your car too, in the boot I found the GSM preamp, I fed a switched live into this so when I was using the car the amp would be on, the Audi phone prep atcually sends +12v to the amp when a phone is inserted n the cradle.
