Not the recommended approach but I didn't connect the battery when installing/removing my unit. Just made sure that the ignition key was removed.

It's to early to type :lol: Yes, I meant I did not disconnect the battery while installing the unit. Some said that some controllers may reset if the battery stays disconnected to long.
