Hi my friends...

it seems there is no other solution beside the DIY adapter to have the CD changer and the PhatBox live together with RNS-E...

Anyway, since I suppose my B7 S4 does not have the cable going to the trunk for the CD Changer (being it present in the glovebox), I would also have to buy and install that too...

It came to my mind another solution maybe someone else already tried:

Does anyone ever tried fitting a PhatBox in the glove box instead of the CD Changer ?

The cables should be exactly the same, the room available maybe is enough...

Just wondered if any past try is present or not...

Any feedback would be appreciated.

What is the Audi part number of your CD changer?

I'm trying to find the correct part number for a glovebox CD changer that is GUARANTEED to work with the RNS-E.

If there is a way to let you know this without removing the changer, I'll do this immediately...

I'm not so fond of removing parts from my car, so I would have to have it done from someone else (and this involves finding the needed time too...).

I mean: Engineering menu would help ?

...the only way I know is the old "Mark 1 eyeball" (i.e. take out the changer and look at the label).

I don't understand why the 2 removal tools for the changer are different from the 4 tools for the RNS-E - seems silly to me.

Message received... Since I don't like not having the chance of "controlling" my properties, I'll have to get the 4+2 removal tools, just for the sake of "OWNING"...

And I'll let you know. I hope you are not in a great hurry...

BESIDE THAT anyway, my question still remains unanswered...

ANYONE tried fitting a PhatBox in the glove box ? Does the cable need to be changed ? Is the available room enough ???

thank you very much for your information and link... Now I have confirmation there is not enough room in the glove box for the PhatBox, so I have no other chances: I'll have to address myself towards the trunk...

Anyway, it also seems to me the famous DIY switcher by Jeff Bipes needs to be next to both devices (PhatBox and CD Changer), while I have the CD Changer in the glove box and I'm thinking of placing the PhatBox in the trunk... :?

fyi - Jeff Bipes is no longer selling/making these devices. I'm working on another alternative .....that will cost under $100 and will provide the same function.

I'll keep you guys posted...after I've had a chance to test it completely with my Nav+, pbox etc.

My 8E (2006 S4) is actually mounting the following:

8E0-035-111D

It's a 6 CD Changer mounted in the glovebox (factory installed).
