Now that it seems that any RNS-E can be made to work in a B5 S4 by coding it as an A6, is the A6 RNS-E still the best choice?

Physically, does the A4 RNS-E fit better? If possible, I'd like to avoid having to modify the faceplate.

I think if you have an RNS-D installed in your B5, then the A4 unit is a better fit, but you your a symphony owner, then stick with the A6.

If you are going to install an RNS-E unit into a B5 A4/S4 you want to go with the A6 version. It will fit very well (not perfect, but close) with only minor modifications (you need to cut or sand about 5mm of the bottom of the faceplate off in order for it to "snap" in place on the security locks). The A4 unit will not fit correctly. I did this in my S4, shoot me an email or IM if you would like some pics.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the US map discs no longer work with an EU unit that has been upgraded to SW360. Or has someone found a work around for that?

Insert the Euro 2005_2 DVD and it will do the update automatically.

Correct...once you update to s/w 0360 US DVD is not going to work. Simply because 0360 is a European software. I think it's wise to wait until someone will create hybrid DVD update to make easy update which is going to work with US maps.

Upcoming US software will be 0040 and/or 0044.
I have access to new US unit with 0040 software but I don't see any differences or any additional functionality. (unlike it EU update)
