Is that an Audi/Navteq DVD or something else? If there is an index.txt, what does the number for NAVVER say?
Disk is been sent to me right now by Powertony. I will post that info. when I get it.

I've come to find out that that an Australian company called WHEREIS supplies most (all??) Nav. systems in Australia and within a few weeks New Zealand as well.

There website does not say they support OEM Audi Navigation, but what about this RNS-e Navdisk I'm receiving?

Also Whereis + Sensis offer DVD disks for Toyota, Jaguar, Ford, Lexus and Clarion/Denso. These disks use identical data/format to my present US disk (.KWI, .IDX etc)

Ironically its called KIWI W Mapmaster.

maybe go to you local Audi dealer and find out what kind of disc they are putting in the B7 A4/S4 with the RNS-E. It might work the same in your unit. Worth a shot.
Thats the problem. I think I have the only Audi in NZ with a Audi Nav. system let alone a RNS-e. They were never an option as we only recently acquired Incar Satnav.

I took my RS6 into the dealership after I did the install and they were all looking at it like it was from another planet. I went on to tell them about the integration of Phatbox, BT, DVD (VIM), TV (VIM), GALA etc.....they were all gobsmacked.

I think the problem here in NZ is that we only have 4M people and someone has spent a lot of money to map the Country, so I think to recoup some of the funds they are offering aftermarket Incar Navigation solutions (eg..VDO Dayton) at a huge price ($5k+) which to me is a ripoff. I just want to spend $300NZ on a disk that works.
I've got an Audi B6 with a retro RNS-E fitted..

Got the whereis DVD for $50 from local dealer...

drop me a line on [email protected] and I'll fill you in with the details...

Finally got it.

SOFIDX:0330
NAVVER:V220059E
AUDVER:A2210126
That's very similar to the Europe 2005_1 software/map. For sure any RNS-E with the US software won't work well but any Euro unit (even the new "D" A4 units) should be able to read that disk. If you got a US unit (or Euro with US software) it will not detect that disk a map DVD. It should also not do a software update. However, if it does it should work fine, at least base don the version number you posted.
do you mean the EU d-unit does work in Australia/NZ withe the AU map?
ok so when I put the disk in it says
'software update CD/DVD 0330'
and thats as far as it goes.

Any ideas on how to make this read. I don't mind taking a risk.

Based on the version number V220 on the AU disk I would say yes. The Euro units are V220 (<0140)/V221(>0330) as well, the US software is V222. The first three digits define the region for the software US or rest of world (my guess). The alldata.kwi is also region coded but as long as there is a Navteq map DVD I would say there is a way to get this working...
Have you changed the setting with VAG to Southern Hemisphere ?

If you have the US software loaded it will not work. Best bet is to use the Euro software as the version numbers are at least similar.
Yes, I changed it to S. Hemishere but no go.
i think Audia4b6us is right, i need to put it back to how is was originally with the EU software and then try the Aussie disk.
Does that sound right?

Any chance someone can send me those 4/5 files needed from the EU disk to patch it back. Only have the US & Aussie disks.
it took about three goes to get mine oz version to upgrade. I think I had to leave it in for about 10 minutes or so....

OK, so to be sure. You had an EU RNS-e sent to Aus (SW 0100) then all you did was stick the AUS DVD in and eventually it upgraded or did you have to use Ultraedit and make some changes to 00.VNS etc
sorry for late reply, been in Melb since Friday.

I honestly can't remember the version I had from the EU unit, but I know that it was upgraded. Car is unfortunately in the chop shop at the moment. When's it's back out I'll tell you what version.

The DVD I got was from a bloke in Sydney who made me a copy of his. The map didn't work, but the software update did! I didn't have to edit anything, just put the disk in the drive and wait...
You need to read your INDEX.TXT from Australian DVD and check your value of software ID . If it's higher than 0360 than it will work. If not, you will need to do some modifications. Most of previous EU-to-US upgrades converted units to 330 or 360 SOFIDX. So higher value will be necessary for update.

We don't know much about Australian software yet so be careful with any upgrades.
Euro RNS-E with Australia Nav DVD

I have a EURO RNS-E and a original Australian Nav DVD.

When I inserted the Aus DVD the system upgraded the firmware. Now when I insert the DVD the system tells me "please insert navigation DVD".

Does anyone have any ideas why my system upgraded the firmware but doesn't read the map data?
Well I've had some progress at last thanks to Audia4b6us and Proxus.

So I went from a RNS-e US H54 X---
to a RNS-e HIGH EU H54 0390

..but this is the strange thing. I took these files from the Australian DVD....
00.VNS
A2210126.MOT
INDEX.TXT
LDM.BIN
LOADING.KWI
....and the ONLY change I made was with INDEX.TXT and changed SOFIDX:0330 to SOFIDX:0390 and thats it. After the re-boot it froze with a German language screen, then rebooted again into German, so i went into settings and changed the language and all is good.
Now the radio is working properly with all stations properly named, has TP and TMC and clock at bottom. MP3, Phatbox, DIS all good. The volume button is also a mute button now.

But when I inserted the Aus DVD it just says 'software update 0330 cd/dvd'

I thought by changing the Hemisphere from 0 to 1 it might read, but no. When I change the Hemisphere from 1 back to 0 the unit goes blank for a sec, and then comes up in German again???

Any ideas on how to make this AUS DVD read now that I have a RNS-e HIGH EU SW:0390.
Do I need the '5 files' from a newer version EU disk to do this? I only have SOFIDX:0100 EU files.

One thing for sure is you can go from a EU unit to a patched US unit and back to what i have now.
