I'm just curious if ALL these units will fit/work in my soon to be 2005 S4? Why are there so many different part numbers, for what looks like to be the same unit?

You can mark the Cabrio units off the list.

The remaining 6 units simply represent the other three variables:

-EU or US version
-2005.5 or 2006 MY
-with or without SDS (subset of 2006 MY)

They will all work but require more or less work to get them working.

8E0 is A4/S4, 8H0 is A4/S4 Cabriolet. Either can be coded for the other car, no real issue here. E/F/J units are US spec, no wories about getting the US map DVD to work. C/D/H are Euro spec unit that will only work with the US map after hackign the firmware. D/H units will not allow the use of a patched US DVD, on these units the US firmware has to be loaded, the C unit will allow the use of a patched US DVD without changing the firmware. J/H units support SDS although nobody has retrofit this feature yet.
