I've got 2 adapters now, from 2 different suppliers (no names in a public forum), and neither are enough to do the job (install an RNS-E in a 2004 B6 A4 with Symphony 2 and Bose).

I took care to tell both suppliers the full information, but neither is complete so I've still got some work to do.

For example:

1 connected all 4 speakers up - the RNS-E only has 2 built-in amps for the front speakers, and with Bose you don't need any speaker connections to the RNS-E :x

Neither has connected the 4 line-outs that the Bose amp uses :x

1 didn't provide any antenna adapters :x

It's no wonder we're all having problems fitting the RNS-E - the suppliers aren't making it any easier for us

It's not as though the information isn't in the public domain - for less than €30 you can get the full wiring diagrams for RNS-E and all the "normal" Audi stereos from https:\\erwin.audi.com :?

I'm not sure about Kufatec customer service...I emailed few questions to Kufatec and finally got response after 3 weeks!!!

Personally I use cables / harness from Ralf Deventer (*on *on *on *on *on service)
You can see his auction on eBay.de and he accept PayPal
He communicate in English and he responding to emails fast.

Shipping was about 5 days and cables works perfect.
I didn't check XM compatibility yet, but I ordered new set with additional support for CD changer and Telephone.

I will take few pictures during installation ;)

I just ordered cables from Ralf. He has been very responsive to my emails, and just told me that he would ship them tomorrow..

I did get a response from Kufatec in 3 days, but by then I had already had 4 email exchanges with Ralf, and ordered the cables. Very impressed with his responsiveness. Of course, I can't judge the cables yet, but have only heard good things about him.

PROXUS, I did not specify telephone connection in my cables, but would like to install Bluetooth at a later time. Do you think I can add this later ?

Those are cables from Ralph I received

[siteimg:7120bb09c4]67[/siteimg:7120bb09c4]

This time I asked him to connect extra wires for CD changer (possibly XM) and telephone. Also he will add few spare wires for me to experiment with SAT radio (if CD changer wires will be not good for that)

We will see as soon as cables will arrive.

Well, assuming you have the plugs already and just need the pins, this might be a start:

- Connectors A & D on the RNS-E need ISO females

- Connectors B & C need quadlock females

- Connector I on the SYmphony 2 needs mini ISO males

- Connectors II, III & IV on the Symphony 2 need ISO males

Or you just contact whoever you got the adapters from and ask them to send you some of the pins...

see my post in the CD/Nav+ section. I just posted all of my part#'s for the Nav+ wires, pins connectors etc.

I have a part# for the male pin for the 20 pin connector (it was a lot of trial and error with my parts guy....and after I ordered 10 different pins...I found the right one.)

Hope this helps with your RNS-E install.

Thanks to all for confirming my thoughts on connectors and giving sources.

Ralf (Deventer) is sending me the extra pins I need.

With a bit of luck I'll install the RNS-E this weekend (Euro 2004 B6 S4).

I'll post how I get on - wish me luck.

i found a good source for the Dietz 1417 (multimedia interface), 1280 (video-in-motion), or just an auxillary audio input..

1417 = 249€
1280 = 179€
aux-in = 79€
Shipping is 10€ extra for each delivery.

Connectors etc from Kafatec

Connectors etc from Kafatec

I have purchased from Kafatec and if you are not German speaking I would not recommend. They do not accept any form of credit card, nothing is in English. I have made one mistake in my purchase, plus they have made a mistake in the connection plug. I spent 130 Euros, if you call them to discuss all you get is a recorded message in German. I’m from Scotland and all I can say is these boys are not good to deal with

I do agree on the German speaking part but to be honest, Kufatec has the best quality adapters. Their GPS antenna comes with a Fakra plug, while most others I have seen have an SMB plug (which fits but does not lock and may break the connector). Same for the antenna adapter where the Kufatec adapter has a double Fakra housing which lets you insert the diversity plug and you are all set instead of messing with two single Fakra plugs which do not fit very well.

For sure they have to improve their support for English speaking customers but they do accept paypal from customers outside of Germany and they respond to emails in English sent to [email protected] (although it may take a day or two before you receive an answer).

BTW, I'm not related to them in any way and it took a very long time before I received my adapters. But I would still recommend them.

I would be happy to assist if someone needs some assistance getting the right info to or from them.
