Another successful conversion EU to US firmware on B6 A4

Thanks to Steve Z1 (and AudiA4B6US for the solution) for flashing my EU unit to a US version, allowing me to use an unpatched DVD! Some things that I've noticed that are different from the EU software:

1. When entering names and storing in directory, you now have to specify uppper and lower case, in the past, the first letter was automatically capitalized followed by lowercase.

2. It appears that the voice prompts are more detailed and frequent, for example, it will tell you "destination is on your left side", or "prepare to make a left turn" more consistently than with the EU software

3. AM radio is fully functional and jumps in increments of 10 instead of 9

4. FM radio no longer has the genre displayed, which I guess is better than having the incorrect genre, although the radio station can still be displayed.

5. Most importantly, the US firmware allows you to specify the North/South, East/West on numbered Avenues and Streets. This feature alone is worth the upgrade!

6. When loading new route from the directory while in motion, an abbreviated "accept" disclaimer in green text is displayed. When the vehicle is stopped, the disclaimer is not displayed, however.

I'll try to report on more differences and quirks once I have more time to go through more options.

So let me get this straight... When you're moving, you are presented with an extra screen (disclaimer) that you must look at and read, and then make an extra button push to dismiss it, requiring you to take your eyes off the road, all in the name of safety?!?!?

This warning message nonsense is getting waaaay out of hand. When I was installing our baby seat in my car, I kept missing steps because each instruction was buried among 4 or 5 warnings.

I'm sadly expecting the day when someone is killed because a warning message interfered with the normal operation of what they were trying do
This screen only appears when your driving and want to input a route. If your stopped and input a route it will not appear.

I have taken a look at the thread....but I guess I am no pro at this navigation flashing software thing. Can anyone write specific step by step details on how to perform this operation?
Unfortunately, this link is no longer in service. I've tried using the forum search, and most results link back to this forum post. Are the contents of this post anywhere else? I am new to the audi scene and need a guide to convert my euro unit to US.

Much appreciated.

Bump. I too am looking for the same information. I retrofitted a RNSE into my B7 A4 and now everything works fine except for the navigation portion. It simply will not ready known working US Nav DVDs. After some research I see that my buttons on the front ready RADIO & CD/TV which would lead me toe believe that even though I was told it was a US version flashed for my B7 A4 I was duped and now am trying to see if I can get it working. I've just been using it as is because the sound is substantially better, the screen is nicer, it looks better and I LOVE the SD card readers. I really would like to get the nav portion working and I'm trying to search how to go about this but it's confusing to me. I really am not 100% sure that this is indeed a Euro unit to begin with so I would like to know how I can tell that for sure. If it is I would then like to know what steps are needed to make it work properly.

Thanks in advance!
