Folks, this was taken from my tech article. I hope it helps with either your RNS-E or Nav+ install.

Connector I – 20 Pin
(Audi part#4B0-972-643 for 20 pin “one-piece female connectorâ€)
(Female pins with wires Audi part#000 979 131, 000 979 131A or 000-979-019; pins only Audi Part#N-103-357-06 or N-103-358-07) See below for Audi part numbers for three pieces that comprise the 20 pin connector

(Source for male 20 pin harness –Model AA3HAR - http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pieaashar.html )
(Male pins only: Audi part# N-103-360-05; male pins with wire – Audi part#000-979-020)

Female 20 pin connector (split into three parts – yellow, green, blue)
- Yellow: Part# 4A0 972 643 (see picture 2j & 2o) - Used for: Pins #1-6 support the line-level output to the amplifier for Bose and none-Bose equipped vehicles.
- Green: Part# 4A0 972 643A (See picture 2f, 2o & 2d) – Used for: (in the Nav+), Pins #7-12 support telephone speaker + and – and some other functions.
- Blue: Part#4A0 972 643B (See picture 2f, 2k, 2o, 4d, 4e & 4f) – Used for: Pins #13-20 support the CD Changer, PhatBox MP3 player, Dension IceLink (for Apple iPod) or BlitzSafe Audio input device.

Connector II – 8 Pin (Brown)
(Female harness/connector - Audi part#357-035-447A; Female pins with wires Audi part#000-979-133)
These pins/wires can also be purchased from ECS tuning for the lighting repair kits (same part# 000-979-133 in yellow, brown and orange colors (http://www.ecstuning.com)

To remove the female pins from this connector, you can use a special pin extraction tool - See picture 2d.

Male pins can be found via: http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=1194&cat=209

They came from an Audi Harness that I bought from autotoys.com.
Product: AUDI 1986-2001 HARNESS

Pulling the male pins out requires a couple sewing needles and some patience.


Connector III – 8 Pin (Black)
(Female harness/connector - Audi part#357-035-447; Female pins with wires Audi part#000-979-133)
These pins/wires can also be purchased from ECS tuning for the lighting repair kits (same part# 000-979-133 in yellow, brown and orange colors (http://www.ecstuning.com)

(Male harness/connector – AutoToys part# 70-9001 or #1196 “VW / AUDI AMPLIFIED PREAMP SPEAKER WIRE HARNESS LEAD 87-94†– only #5-#10 have male pins; the others are open; The Scosche VW01 adaptor will provide the same male 10 pin adaptor )


Connector V – 26 Pin (Black/Blue) – Only used in Nav+
(Female harness/connector - Audi part#3B0-919-754; Female pins with wires Audi part# 000-979-010)


Connector VI – 12 Pin – TMC/CAN Gateway (Black)
(Female harness/connector Audi part#4A0-972-883; Female pins with wires Audi part#000-979-003; according to the Audi parts department, the new part# is: 000-979-018)


Connector VII – 32 Pin – Instrument Cluster Harness (Grey or Blue – depending on the year A6 you have)Female pins with wires Audi part#000-979-003 (same as TMC/CAN 12 pin connector; according to the Audi parts department, the new part# is: 000-979-018)
