Alarm GND on a A4 B7

Does this need to be connected - the connector supplied with my RNS had this wired to the telephone mute so i disconnected this and put a wire into the Alarm GND on the radio

My car has not been VAG-COM'd yet and every so often - every couple of days - the central locking stops working. Its fine if i unlock the car with a key - start the engine and then use the door controls to lock and unlock the car

Could this be the alarm GND setting the alarm of or similar - am i best to disconnect it and see whether it reoccurs - it has never happened before i connected the RNS-E

I have exactly the same problem with my central locking on my B7 A4 and i've not even fitted the RNS-E yet. Looks just like a general fault!
I have disconnected it and it still occurs occasionally

Its really rather annoying!! I have to say that it never happened before i fitted the RNS-E though.

Mine has messed around since i brought the car. I've just not been bothered to take it back. Vag-com shows a wiring fault.
This is a known problem on the B7 - nothing to do with the RNS-E.
Thanks Guys

I've got to go in and get the RNS-E VAG-COM'ed so i'll make it Audi's problem rather than mine!

Spoke to the Audi dealer and they said there was a recall earlier this year to do with the keys - they said they would swap the keys for me

Sorry to bring this thread back up.
If it is a known problem, then where/what exactly is the problem?
Thanks.

Early B7s were sold with faulty keys - as mentioned by jakerade there was a recall to sort the problem out.
