What kind of video source are you using? The RNS-E only accepts a 4:3 signal and most AV adapters do not support Secam, just PAL and NTSC. Can you make a photo of the screen to show what it looks like?
The pictures you sent look normal for analog TV. The distortion is normal becaus ethe RNS-E streches any picture to 16:9 and analog TV is always 4:3. You may get a slkightly better picture by upgrating to a DVD player or DVB-T TV receiver. However, since both devices will be connected via FBAS/composite video, the quality will never be as good as component or RGB video.
