- New airbag ($700+ from dealer; used for ???)
- New self cancelling ring ($300+ from dealer)
- New wheel ($$$$$ from dealer...not sure if you can find used)
- New MF control module ($200 from dealer; see my link below for C5 A6 community - some more answers in there)
I would also recommend getting the bentley manual on CD and researching the schematics.
You'll need to do some rewiring into the canbus and the new mf control module. I have yet to hear of this being done yet.

Hey stoodo i,am getting ready to do a steering wheel swap from a 3 spoke tiptronic steering wheel to a 4 spoke tiptronic multifunction steering wheel in a 02 a4, did u get yours done? can u post some updates?
how much effort would be needed to convert a 3-spoke 2003 wheel into a 3 spoke multifunction wheel (B6 platform one)
one thing i know is that the airbag can be reused.. anything else?

there's one on the 2002's with volume control and track control, its got less controls the the 4 spoke one.
yes it looks like that but it is a B6 wheel.. aren't those volume and track controls?
no. those are tiptronic controls. Silly. 
3 spoke tiptronic to 4 spoke multifunction telephone/radio tiptronic steeringwheel is complete, all u need is this part number 8E0 971 589 D
